Starting with Forsaken, mods include various weapon perks that can be attached to weapons. Modifying Weapon ModsĪt launch, mods in Destiny 2 were generally limited to small increases in attack power or altering elemental damage types. That means you can now run with that Shotgun/Sniper Rifle/Rocket Launcher you’ve dreamed about in the Crucible, or switch up to three different shotguns to go up against a particularly nasty strike boss. Rather than certain types always constrained to a particular slot, all weapons now have Kinetic, Energy, and Power versions that you can discover. The Year 2 update also complete overhauls the weapon slot system.

However, Guardians with Year 1 favorites like Better Devils or Nameless Midnight can infuse their weapons to Year 2 power levels. Additionally, all Year 1 weapons have been retired from Destiny 2 and will no longer be obtainable after the launch of Forsaken. New weapons have a variety of perks randomly assigned when you obtain them. That’s right: The random roll weapon system from the first Destiny have been introduced alongside all Year 2 weapons.
